Here’s a copy of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time, released for the Super Famicom in Japan in 1992 by Konami. The game was based on the popular Turtles in Time arcade game released in 1991. Back then, arcades were the gold standard. Having a Nintendo or Sega console was one thing, but the pinnacle of video game tech was what arcades could do. Many games were promoted on the basis of how close they replicated arcade gameplay, as they were the “benchmark” for all other video games at the time.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time for the Super Famicom/Nintendo, or ‘Hero’ Turtles if you were in Europe, did justice to the arcade version and received a positive reception. Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello and Raphael had their own unique weapons and dispatched of many a foot soldier in various levels.
Games from Japan and the US that somehow found their way into Europe required a games converter to be played on European Super Nintendos.
