In what is a 1974 equivalent to clickbait, in Sub-Mariner issue #69, the Sub-Mariner (Prince Namor) takes on our friendly neighbourhood hero Spider-Man… for a grand total of 1 page.
The police are giving chase to Namor and they’ve enlisted Spider-Man’s assistance. When Spider-Man finally catches up to Namor, and receives a slam onto a concrete wall, the ‘fight’ stops with a long-winded conversation about Namor’s mission.
Understandably a cover of the Sub-Mariner and Spider-Man conversing over cups of coffee probably wouldn’t have sold as well as them fighting.
