Privacy Policy

Effective 6th December 2024. Last Revised 6th December 2024.

This Privacy Policy outlines how and why Plozee (“Plozee”, “we” or “us”) collects, uses, and shares information about you when you use our websites, mobile apps, widgets, APIs, emails, and other products, features and services (collectively, the “Services”) or when you otherwise interact with us or receive a communication from us.

1. Plozee is a Public Platform

Much of the information on the Services is public and accessible to everyone, even without an account. By using the Services, you are directing us to share this information publicly and freely.

When you submit content (e.g. a post, comment etc.) to a public part of the Services, any visitors to and users of our Services will be able to see that content, the username associated with the content, and the date and time you originally submitted the content. That content and information may also be available in search results on internet search engines such as Google or in responses provided by an AI chatbot such as Google Gemini. You should take the public nature of the Services into consideration before posting. Note that Plozee allows moderators to access Plozee content using moderator tools.

Your Plozee account has a profile page that is public. Your profile contains information about your activities on the Services, such as your username, previous posts and comments, profile display name, About section, your social links, profile image, your registration date and other information you choose to include on your profile page.

We offer social sharing features that let you share content or actions you take on our Services with other media. Your use of these features enables the sharing of certain information with your friends or the public, depending on the settings you establish with the third party that provides the social sharing feature. For more information about the purpose and scope of data collection and processing in connection with social sharing features, please visit the privacy policies of the third parties that provide these social sharing features such as Facebook, WhatsApp and X.

2. What Information We Collect

(a) Information You Provide to Us

We collect information you provide to us directly when you use the Services. This includes:

Account information: You don’t need an account to access Plozee. If you create a Plozee account, your account will have a username, which you provide or which is automatically generated. Your username is public, and it doesn’t have to be related to your real name. You may need to provide a password, depending on whether you register using an email address or other registration methods such as social login. When you use Plozee, you may also provide other information such as a bio, profile picture or social links. We also store your user account preferences and settings. We may ask for such information prior to you creating a username or account to help improve your experience on the Services.

Non-Public Content You Submit: In addition to the public content you submit to the Services, we also collect non-public content. This may include your saved drafts of posts or comments, and your reports and other communications with us. Your content may include text, links, images, gifs, audio, videos, software, and tools.

Actions you take: We collect information about the actions you take when using the Services. This includes your interactions with the platform and content such as voting, saving and reporting. It also includes your interactions with other users such as following/unfollowing.

Other information: You may choose to provide other information directly to us. For example, we may collect information when you fill out a form, survey, participate in Plozee-sponsored activities, promotions, or programs, or otherwise communicate with us.

(b) Information We Collect Automatically

When you access or use our Services, we may also automatically collect information about you. This includes:

Log and usage data: We may log information when you access and use the Services. This may include your IP address, user-agent string, browser type, operating system, referral URLs, device information (such as device IDs), device settings, mobile carrier name, pages visited, links clicked, the requested URL, and search terms.

Information collected from cookies and similar technologies: We may receive information from cookies, which are pieces of data your browser stores and sends back to us when making requests, and similar technologies. We use this information to deliver and maintain our Services, improve your experience, understand user activity, personalize content and advertisements, measure the effectiveness of advertising, and improve the quality of our Services. For example, we store and retrieve information about your preferred settings. See our Cookie Policy (Section 3) below for more information about how Plozee uses cookies.

Location information: We may receive and process information about your location. We may receive location information from you when you choose to share such information on our Services, for example, by associating your content with a location, or we may derive an approximate location based on your IP address.

(c) Information Collected from Other Sources and by Third Parties

We may receive information about you from other sources. For example, we may receive demographic or interest information about you from third parties, including advertising and analytics partners.

Linked services: If you choose to access the Services via a Linked Network (eg. Google), we receive certain profile and account information about you from the Linked Network. The specific information provided to us by Linked Networks is determined by you, and this information is used to create your Plozee user profile. Please consult the respective privacy policies of the Linked Networks for information about their practices.

Embedded content: Plozee may display some linked content on the Services via embeds. For example, Plozee posts that link to YouTube may load the linked video within Plozee directly from those services to your device so you don’t have to leave Plozee to see it. Plozee does not control how third-party services collect data when they serve you their content directly via these embeds. As a result, embedded content is not covered by this privacy policy but by the policies of the service from which the content is embedded. Please consult their respective privacy policies for information about their practices.

Advertising and Analytics Partners: We may partner with third-party analytics providers, advertisers and ad networks to deliver advertising and content targeted to your interests and to better understand your use of the Services. These third parties may collect information sent by your computer, browser, or mobile device such as unique identifiers, your IP address, or other information about your computer or device. For example, our ad partners and networks may use cookies and related technologies to collect information when ads are delivered to you on the Services. Please note that we do not provide your Plozee account details to these advertising partners. We may use analytics partners (such as Google Analytics) to help analyze usage and traffic for the Services. For example, we may use analytics partners to analyze, in aggregate, the number of unique visitors accessing and using the Services.

3. Cookie Policy

A cookie is a small text file that a site stores on your computer, tablet, mobile or other device when you visit the site. Browsers support cookies and similar technologies (such as local storage and pixels) so that a site like Plozee can remember information about your visit and can use the information to improve your experience and to create aggregated anonymized statistics about usage of the site. When we use the term “cookie”, we refer both to cookies and similar technologies.

The following cookies may be used:

Strictly Necessary: These cookies are necessary for our Services to function properly and securely. You can set your browser to block or alert you about these cookies, but then some parts of our Services may not work.

Functional: These cookies enable Plozee to provide enhanced functionality and personalization. If you do not allow these cookies then some or all of these features may not function properly.

Analytics and Performance: These cookies allow us to count visits and traffic sources so we can measure and improve the performance of our site. They help us to know which pages are the most and least popular and see how visitors move around the site. Google provides the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on so web visitors have the ability to prevent their data from being used by Google Analytics.

Advertising: We may use these cookies to deliver advertisements, to make them more relevant and meaningful to users, and to track the efficiency of our advertising campaigns. Our third-party advertising partners may use these cookies to help target ads, measure the results of a campaign and build a profile of your interests in order to deliver relevant advertising on other sites. For example, Google may use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to our Services or other websites. You may opt out of Google’s personalised advertising by visiting Ads Settings.

Most browsers provide you with the option to not accept cookies, however, please note that this may prevent you from having access to some functions or features of the Services. These browsers generally have features that enable you to see and delete cookies stored on your device and to block cookies from all or selected sites. Your mobile device may also include browser settings that allow you to manage the use of cookies.

4. How We Use Information

We may use information about you to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Services;
  • Personalize services, content, and features that match your activities, preferences, and settings;
  • Help protect the safety of Plozee and our users, which includes blocking suspected spammers, addressing abuse, and enforcing the Plozee Terms of Service, as well as comply with applicable law;
  • Provide, optimize, target, and measure the effectiveness of ads shown on our Services;
  • Research and develop new services;
  • Send you technical notices, updates, security alerts, invoices, and other support and administrative messages;
  • Communicate with you about products, services, offers, promotions, events, and programs, and provide other news and information we think will be of interest to you; and
  • Monitor and analyze trends, usage, and activities in connection with our Services.

We process your information:

  • To provide, operate, and improve the Services, provide customer support, personalize features and to protect the safety and security of the Services;
  • When it satisfies a legitimate interest such as preventing fraud, ensuring network and information security, enforcing our rules and policies, protecting our legal rights and interests, research and development, personalizing the Services, and marketing and promoting the Services;
  • When you have consented for us to do so for a specific purpose; or
  • When we need to process your information to comply with our legal obligations.

5. How We Share Information

In addition to the content that is displayed publicly as described above, we may share information in the following ways:

With linked services: If you link your Plozee account with a third-party service, Plozee will share the information you authorize with that third-party service.

With syndicated channels: When content is shared on syndicated channels, people who use or access those syndicated channels may be able to see the content of your post or comment, your username, and the date and time you originally submitted the post or comment.

With our service providers: We may share information with vendors, consultants, and other service providers who need access to such information to carry out work for us. Their use of personal data will be subject to appropriate confidentiality and security measures. Examples include cloud providers who host our data and our services and payment processors who process transactions on our behalf.

To comply with the law: We may share information if we believe disclosure is in accordance with, or required by, any applicable law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, including, but not limited to, meeting national security or law enforcement requirements.

In an emergency: We may share information if we believe it’s necessary to prevent imminent and serious bodily harm to a person.

To enforce our rights and promote safety and security: We may share information if we believe your actions are inconsistent with our User Agreement and to protect the rights, property, and safety of the Services, ourselves, and others.

With our affiliates: We may share information between and among Plozee, and any of our parents, affiliates, subsidiaries, and other companies under common control and ownership.

Aggregated or de-identified information: We may share information about you that has been aggregated or anonymized such that it cannot reasonably be used to identify you. For example, we may show the total number of times a post has been upvoted without identifying who the visitors were, or we may tell an advertiser how many people saw their ad.

With your consent: We may share information about you with your consent or at your direction. For example, at your direction through social sharing features that allow you to share content with third party sites such as Facebook and X.

6. Information Security

We take reasonable measures (organisational and technical safeguards) protect information about you. We cannot, however, ensure or warrant the security of any information you provide to Plozee or guarantee that your information on our Services may not be accessed, lost, stolen, misused, altered, disclosed or destroyed by breach of any of our safeguards.

We store the information we collect for as long as it is necessary for the purpose(s) for which we originally collected it. We may retain certain information for legitimate business purposes and/or if we believe doing so is in accordance with, or as required by, any applicable law. For example, if you violate our policies and your account is suspended or banned, we may store the identifiers used to create the account (such as email address) to prevent you from creating new accounts.

7. Your Rights

You have the following rights when you access or use the Services:

  • The right to be informed. You have the right to be informed about the collection and use of your personal data.

  • The right to data portability. You have the right to obtain and reuse your personal data for your own purposes.
  • The right to object. You have the right to object to the processing of your personal data. Our compliance with your right to object in certain circumstances means that Plozee may not be able to provide certain services to you.

Please note that you also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

Most modern web browsers give you the option to send a Do Not Track signal to the sites you visit, indicating that you do not wish to be tracked. However, there is no accepted standard for how a site should respond to this signal, and we do not take any action in response to this signal.

You may opt out of receiving some or all categories of promotional communications from us by following the instructions in those communications. If you opt out of promotional communications, we may still send you non-promotional communications, such as information about your account or your use of the Services.

If you have questions, please Contact Us.

We are not responsible or liable for the practices employed by websites or resources linked to or from our Services, nor the information or content contained within them. Please remember that when you use a link to go from our Services to another website or resource, our Privacy Policy is no longer in effect. Your browsing and interaction on any other website or resource, including those that have a link on our Services, are subject to that website or resource’s own rules and policies.
