In 1989 Marvel supported UNICEF’s annual Halloween fundraising campaign, which took place on 31st October, later known as ‘Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF ‘and then ‘National UNICEF Day’. Spider-Man was designated ‘National UNICEF Day Safety Chair’ and at the time was a spokesperson for the National Committee for Prevention of Child Abuse.
The partnership between Marvel and UNICEF continued, and in 1992, Marvel published the special edition ‘Spider-Man: The Trial of Venom’, the proceeds of which went to the U.S. Committee for UNICEF.
