International Tourist Arrivals in 2021 totalled 446 million people. The majority of international tourists visited countries in Europe, totalling 303.1 million or 67.9% of global international tourist arrivals. Tourism is experiencing a recovery since the pandemic, with international tourist arrivals in 2021 exceeding the 2020 number by 37 million. This, however, is still a long way to go to reach pre-pandemic levels, which saw 1.46 billion international tourist arrivals in 2019.
